Before you head to a service:

  1. Check your Vault: Ensure your ID and birth certificate photos are uploaded.
  2. Battery Check: If your phone is low, head to a Library or Spark store first.
  3. The ‘Safe Word’: If you are heading to a new place, text a friend your location and a “safe word” you’ll use if you need them to call you.

“If you are heading to a shelter or a friend’s place, try to take your ‘Digital Vault’ with you (your phone and charger). If you can, tell one trusted person where you are going. If you feel unsafe at any location, leave immediately and head to a public space like a 24-hour petrol station or a hospital foyer—these are well-lit and have CCTV.”
